Home study paperwork is turned in!

by Katie on October 15, 2010

I am so excited to report that this morning, I drove our paperwork for our home study over to the agency’s office and personally handed it in. The huge stack of forms we’ve been working on since June is finally finished and out of our hands!!!

We didn’t want to alarm anyone earlier but one of the reasons that it has taken sooooo long to get to this point is that some of Shaun’s lab work from his physical exam came back with questionable values. It had to do with his liver. The doctor wouldn’t release his paperwork stating that he is in “good health” until she knew exactly what was going on. We went through three rounds of lab work and then a liver ultrasound. In the end, everything was OK and we were able to pick up our final forms from the doctor a week ago. Thank God!

So our social worker is supposed to contact us on Monday to schedule a time to come out to our home and interview us, see our place, etc. In the meantime, we’ve started on the next task, which is a psych evaluation using a specific personality test called the MMPI. This is required by Colombia. It took me 4 days of phone calls to find a psychologist who could administer this test to us. We have our appointment with her on Wednesday, October 27, at 9:00 am. Hopefully we can get it all done in that one visit, but I’m not sure.

We are so happy to be finally making some progress and taking steps forward!
